Vidyo Dramatically Lowers Entry Price for HD Video Conferencing Room Systems

Vidyo(TM), Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced a breakthrough in the cost of HD video conferencing room systems with the introduction of the VidyoRoom(TM) HD-100.

Any HD video camera can be connected via either the HDMI or USB input to complete the system. The dual-display HD system seamlessly interacts with VidyoDesktop(TM) clients, allowing conference participants to join a telepresence-like HD room video conference from their home, office or on the road, over converged IP networks such as the Internet.

VidyoConferencing(TM) is the first conferencing solution that enables endpoints to seamlessly interoperate from HD room systems to laptops within the same conference via converged IP networks, without the requirement of a gateway or an MCU.

"Vidyo offers strong HD video performance, extremely low end-to-end delay, and exceptional tolerance for network issues — a compelling combination which enables reliable visual collaboration over standard IP networks," reports Ira Weinstein, Analyst and Partner at Wainhouse Research. "The addition of the HD100 to the Vidyo product line makes high definition videoconferencing, from the desk or the meeting room, more affordable and deployable."

"The VidyoRoom HD-100 resets the bar in the video conferencing market," said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo CEO. "For the first time, a video conferencing endpoint capable of encoding HD video can be acquired at an amazing price."

The VidyoRoom HD-100 Advantage

The VidyoRoom HD-100 system works as a natural extension to the way people normally work. It is simple to configure, easy to use, and supports both voice-activated and continuous presence layouts. Flexible conference control options facilitate set-up and management, using either the VidyoPortal(TM) or a remote control device. The HD-100 encodes 720p at 30 FPS and supports dual monitors to display conference participants on one monitor and shared applications on the other. To complete the system, any HD video camera can be connected either via an HDMI or USB input.

The new product features an intuitive GUI that is consistent with the VidyoDesktop client and is operated with an IR remote control. Video conferences are initiated quickly and easily with "one-click" entry into a private meeting room through the VidyoPortal. Since the HD-100 offers full and automatic integration with the VidyoPortal user database, there is no need for the user to maintain a local address book.
Most significant, is that the VidyoRoom interoperates seamlessly with VidyoDesktop(TM) clients, making it possible for people to join a conference from their home office or from their laptop, anywhere they happen to be.

The system has been uniquely designed for use over converged IP networks, yet achieves a level of video quality unequaled by video conferencing solutions that require dedicated bandwidth to perform at their best.
Vidyo launched the video conferencing product family in January of this year. It is the world's first scalable coding enabled video conferencing system. Vidyo is the first company to license technology and deliver products built upon an entirely new video conferencing architecture that utilizes the recently approved H.264/SVC video compression standard.
