LifeSize Supports Government Security and Interoperability Standards

LifeSize Communications, a global provider of high definition Video communications, has reportedly announced comprehensive support for government security and interoperability standards.

This announcement has expanded the scope of Federal Government network installations on which LifeSize (News - Alert) HD Video communications systems can be deployed. The company has also landed a U.S. General Services Administration contract. This win means it can do business directly with the Federal Government through theGSA ( News - Alert) Information Technology Schedule 70.

LifeSize’s officials said that among the new security credentials, the LifeSize Cryptographic Security Kernel has been placed on the In Process Listing for the Federal Information Processing Standards Publications 140-2 Validation: Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules.

An independent lab validated LifeSize to meet the federal mandates for IPv6 interoperability on government agency networks. It reportedly is also on the Department of Defense’s Unified Capabilities for Video Conferencing equipment testing schedule to obtain an interoperability and information assurance certification from the Joint Interoperability Test Command.

Through its own GSA contract, LifeSize now provides government agencies an additional procurement vehicle for LifeSize HD solutions.

Lifesize also supports the stringent FIPS 140-2, IPv6 and JITC certification, explained Adam Taylor, executive vice president of sales and customer services at LifeSize Communications. This helps more civilian and DoD agencies benefit from the superior HD Video communications experience.

Corsec Security helped LifeSize to provide certification consulting for the FIPS 140-2 standardy. Command Information assisted in the delivery, testing and validation for IPv6 network interoperability.

“Government agencies already rely on LifeSize systems and securing the GSA Schedule contract enables us to provide an even higher level of service to Federal customers, not to mention opens the door to additional, large-scale government deployments,” Taylor said in a statement.
