LifeSize HD video conferencing 'provides simplified unified communications'

LifeSize Communications has revealed its high-definition video solutions will be expanded via interoperability with Microsoft unified communications (UC) platforms, allowing companies both large and small to scale their video capabilities in a more cost-effective way.

It means that LifeSize is one of the first vendors which offers video conferencing to become qualified to interoperate with the corporation's Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

From a single user interface, customers can benefit from more robust and simplified UC, such as chat, video, email or phone, regardless of the location of their colleagues.

The support includes the placement of LifeSize systems to buddy and contact lists, as well as enabling calls to be received and made between different devices from one Microsoft Office Communicator platform.

Commenting on the partnership, chief executive officer and co-founder of LifeSize Craig Malloy said: "Our partnership with Microsoft is a key component in our vision to extend the highest-quality collaboration capabilities to anyone, anywhere, giving customers true simplicity across existing UC platforms."

UC can also improve the flexibility of firms and such technology will be adopted by more businesses throughout 2011, Infonetics Research's Matthias Machowinski recently said.
